Remember a couple posts ago when I mentioned us having a wedding to go to on our anniversary, last month? Well, here’s what I wore, and I’m sure you can guess from the title and from my outfit, that it was an extremely casual wedding. Backyard venue, home-cooked food, kids… the works. So I opted for a fun, silky skirt, a white tee, and some denim. Light layers made of lightweight fabrics. Nothing better to wear on a sunny day, chasing around Baby Boy, at a wedding.

It was definitely sunny out, but the weather couldn’t decide on being warm or cool, so I’m really glad I brought my chambray with me. It’s the perfect layering piece that really doesn’t get as much wear as it should, but I wear jeans a LOT and sometimes the Canadian tuxedo thing just isn’t working for me. I feel like sometimes chambray can get monotonous, but when I paired it with this print on the skirt, I saw its potential, all over again.

And speaking of the fun, printed skirt, what would a day out with kids be, if you didn’t have pockets? I swear, I never knew how important pockets on skirts and dresses were until we started seeing Baby Boy more. In the summer, I never want to carry a huge purse if we’re going to be out and active all day, but with kids around, you need somewhere to put all their crap. (It is crap..) Pockets come in handy when the only purse you have is a small crossbody. Where else are you going to keep tissues or your 2 bottles of complimentary bubbles?
